Mario Seneca has extensive experience with the labor-law issues, related to employee vs. independent-contractor status of sports officials. A former Minor League Umpire for nine seasons, with four years as vice president of the Association of Minor League Umpires (AMLU), he currently officiates D-I NCAA Football in the Mountain West Conference and for the PIAA (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association) in four sports (baseball, basketball, football, and boys’ lacrosse). Through his former position with the OPEIU (Office and Professional Employees International Union, AFL-CIO), Mario was directly involved in the legal dispute between the PIAA and the National Labor Relations Board, as OPEIU’s organizer and representative. He is also a named-plaintiff in a minimum-wage case against the PIAA. He is currently a deputy law clerk for the Hon. Debrah A. Kunselman, Judge of Pennsylvania’s statewide, appellate court.
